Avalance Safety Gear Rentals at Kiroro Resort
New for the 2025/2026 season: Otaru Adventure now offers avalanche safety equipment rentals at Kiroro Resort, with convenient pickup and drop-off at the Kiroro Mountain Centre.

Avalanche safety equipment requires proper training to use effectively. We recommend completing an avalanche safety course, checking daily avalanche forecasts, and skiing with experienced guides. Continous assessment of snow conditions, weather conditions, group dynamics and individual energy levels is important.
There is often ambiguity about whether access to an area is officially permitted or not permitted. If you think it's not an officially permitted area or backcountry access point, you shouldn't go there, because you do not know what hazards you will come across.
